ReadSmart 1 applies software algorithms to existing text to optimize reading comprehension
and retention while preserving the author’s wording and designer’s
layout choices. This patented process subtly arranges the spacing of words on a
page based on linguistic, psychological, and visual principles. In English, the spaces
between words account for approximately 16% of the characters in a given text.
ReadSmart 1 adds value to each of these spaces on the page—the size of each
space is scientifically engineered to aid readers’ eye-movements so that they get
the most out of reading.
Our process subtly controls the size of every space in a document to make each
more informative for the reader. The result is unobtrusive and is nearly indistinguishable
from regular text. It can be integrated with any text editing, publishing, or display program.
